CIRCUIT CLERK GETS $26,000 GRANT FOR RECORDS PRESERVATION

(01/31/2008)
The Calhoun Circuit Clerk's office is getting some help to preserve court records, according to Shelia Garretson.

The state's Records Management and Preservation Board, a part of the WV Division of Culture and History, has awarded $26,000 for special filing cabinets for record preservation.

Garretson plans to install a manually operated movable track shelving system, which will not only help preserve court records but make them more readily available to the public.

The County Commission will provide a 10% match for the project.

The project will be advertised for bids.

"Your grant application was one of many good proposals," wrote Acting Director Joe Geiger.

His agency had $300,000 for helping counties preserve records.
