DEL. STEMPLE USING LAST MINUTE STRATEGY

(01/25/2008)
There was no new filings for political office in the County Clerk's office yesterday.

Delegate Bill Stemple is continuing his strategy to not file for House of Delegates, 33rd District, or for any other county office, apparently waiting for the midnight hour.

Stemple has told his supporters he intends to file for Sheriff.

At least two Calhoun residents have expressed interest in filing for the House seat, but have not done so, reportedly because of Stemple's indecision.

A former Clay County Delegate candidate, David Walker, has filed for the House and at least one Gilmer County man has expressed interest contingent on Stemple dropping from the race.

Saturday is the last day for filing, with candidates allowed to mail their application, provided it is postmarked before midnight.
