GILMER HIGH GOING WIRELESS

(01/09/2008)
Gilmer County Schools has received official notification from the West Virginia Department of Education that Gilmer County High School's proposal for the SBA Wireless Infrastructure Grant has been funded.

The school will receive $16,881.54 in grant monies to transition to a wireless infrastructure environment.

Additional monies will be used from the school's E-Rate account to offset the additional expenses for wireless capabilities.

The wireless conversion should be completed by mid-March.

"This is excellent news for Gilmer County High School. It will greatly improve the technology at our school for all of our students and faculty and will allow us to pursue other opportunities in technology," said Nasia Butcher, principal.

"This is the first of several grants for which Gilmer County High School has made application. We are optimistic that several other grants will also be funded," she said.

Mrs. Brenda Bleigh, County Technology Coordinator for Gilmer County Schools, commends the administration and the GCHS Technology Team for actively pursuing and obtaining additional funding to enhance the technology infrastructure at this school.

"I know first-hand that countless hours have been invested by the staff in preparing the SBA Wireless Infrastructure grant and other technology-related proposals," Bleigh said.
