DELEGATION WANTS VOLUNTEER AGREEMENT APPROVED FOR COACH

(01/08/2008)
Boosters and parents addressed the Calhoun school board meeting last night requesting Zach Hupp be approved as a middle school girl's basketball coach.

School board president Lee Evans told the group that the recommendation had yet to appear on the board's agenda.

Hupp apparently had been wanting to volunteer to assist the team and has applied to be an approved volunteer.

CM-HS principal Karen Kirby has yet to approve Hupp.

Irona Yeager, Jamie Gerwig and Tom Gerwig spoke to the board on Hupp's behalf, representing boosters and parents.

Zach Hupp's father, Doyle Hupp. Jr., who is also a school system coach, spoke on behalf of his son, reading a supportive letter.

Board president Evans said the volunteer guidelines will be reviewed at a special meeting scheduled for January 14th, which will also focus on the performance audit conducted for county schools.
