Despite 23 points by Andrew Norman. Despite 18 rebounds by Josh DeWeese. Despite playing its best game of the season Calhoun fell to 0-6 when Roane County sneaked away with a 47-45 victory that was sealed by two non-calls in the final five seconds.

During that period of time Roane County's Josh Drake scored what proved to be the winning basket when he ran over Norman en route to the hoop and no foul was called. The victory was sealed seconds later when Norman was hammered while trying to get off a last second shot and no foul was called.

Despite the big non-calls the Red Devils had numerous chances to get the victory but came up short.

The biggest short coming was probably at the line where Calhoun managed to hit one of nine, including some on the first end of one-and-one situations.

Calhoun started slowly thanks in part to two very early calls on Justin Gerwig, who found himself on the bench with two personal fouls less than a minute into the contest.

Roane took a quick lead but Calhoun battled back to make it close at the half just as it would prove to be the rest of the way.

Calhoun had a lead, 30-27, when DeWeese was called for his fourth foul. Without the senior rebounded in the game Roane came back and took a small lead before DeWeese came back in.

After that the game was seesaw the rest of the way before Drake's driving lay up set the final margin.

Norman 's 23 were a game high. He was backed by Gerwig with eight and DeWeese with seven. Chuck Kendall and Harold McCumbers added three each while Josh Cain chipped in with one. Cai Clothier, Anthony Richards and Greg Myers all played but did not score.

Roane, 3-3, was led by Matt Brohard with 15 -- all on three-point shots -- and Aaron Parsons with 13, including three threes.

Roane won the junior varsity 62-21 as Colter Taylor had 23.

Calhoun had five each from Dennis Dye and Tyler Bennett.

The Red Devils return to action next Thursday at home against Wahama.
