FORMER WVRC BROADCASTER GORDON ROGERS HAS DIED

The former co-owner of WVRC Radio in Spencer has died.

Gordon Rogers, 82, of Orma, passed away Thursday.

Rogers was the retired president and co-owner of Star Communications, Inc. which operated WVRC 104.7 FM.

He was a graduate of Rutgers University, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, Charleston.

He was born April 1, 1925, in Ridgefield Park, NJ, a son of the late Chester Newton and Renee Myers Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jane Buck Rogers.

Survivors include his daughter, Diane I. Zdanek of Spencer; sons, Jeffrey G. Rogers of Hagerstown, MD and Bruce H. Rogers of Waldwick, NJ; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are preferred to First Church of Christ Scientist, P.O. Box 664, Charleston, WV 25323-0664.
