FUN & LEARNING DAY HAS VISIT FROM SANTA |

Article and photos submitted by Jean Simers The fourth 2007-2008 Saturday Fun and Learning Day sponsored by Heads Up, GEAR UP and the Parent-Educator Resource Center was held on Saturday, December 17th at Calhoun Middle-High School. Breakfast was served to all participants and then parents attended a session conducted by the Parent-Education Resource Center entitled Loving Guidance. Each parent attending received a copy of the Dr. Becky Bailey CD entitled Loving Guidance: Setting Limits Without Guilt. Students enjoyed activities in the gym while their parents were in training. After they were reunited children and their parents made crafts which included, a Christmas photo frame, a water globe, a pillow, cup for Santa, and a gingerbread house. And of course no Christmas would be complete without a visit from the man in red and white. Every child had their picture taken with Santa and received a goody bag and a McDonald's gift card.
The Middle School Boosters catered lunch of fried chicken, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked beans, corn, hot roll, drink, pumpkin roll and cake. There were approximately 100 students and 70 adults in attendance on Saturday with the following parents winning door prizes, $20 Pit Stop gift cards from Heads Up - Becky Frederick, April Petrovsky, Sharon Rogers, and Connie Schoolcraft. Sandra Moore won a gift basket donated by Gear Up. The parents and children who attend five of the eight sessions are eligible for a trip to Idlewild Park on May 31, 2008.
