TWO SENT TO HOSPITAL AFTER HEAD-ON COLLISION - Wrecks And Fires Keep Emergency Services Busy

A car and truck collision, described as head-on, send two victims to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center shortly after 7 p.m. Friday. Injured were Tara Jacobs and Jessie Richards, occupants of a car which impacted a pick-up truck.

The truck reportedly belonged to Jamie Waggoner, who eyewitnesses said did not require hospitalization. The accident happened in front of the Cha-Tis Store on Rt. 5 east, near the Grantsville town limits. Calhoun EMS and the Grantsville VFD responded.

Calhoun EMS and the Arnoldsburg VFD responded to a single vehicle accident on Route 16 at the Sycamore Road turn-off near Millstone Hill at 11:41 a.m. Friday. The auto rolled on its top in a yard, with no significant injuries reported. The Calhoun Sheriff's Department investigated.

An electrical transformer and pole caught fire on Barr Hill, south of Grantsville, at 2 p.m. Friday, causing a three hour power outage in some areas, including Calhoun Control-911, which switched to emergency power. The Grantsville VFD responded to the call.

The Upper West Fork VFD responded to a barn fire on Upper Big Run off Euclid-Nicut Road, at 6 p.m. Monday. The barn was not near residences or other property and was described as a total loss.
