RITCHIE COUNTY'S BEASON NEWS

Well, today I come to you from our local library. It seems my wonderful piece of technology went AWOL. It also appears that my son knows more about computer issues than I do. I did everything I could think of other than making it a lawn ornament (which is coming shortly if I can't get it fixed). While I was ripping out dusty wires and cables, Ethan said, "Mom, it seems to me that your modem is the problem." Of course, I had to come up with some brilliant reply. (Sometimes I am so thankful I can B.S. at the drop of a hat if the situation applies-and this applied very much so). So, I said that I knew that I was just testing him to see how long it would take him to realize that. In all reality, I had no clue. I don't know if Ethan bought my story or not. Probably not, he is smarter than your average bear.

I believe my house is almost up to Clark Griswold standards. My house just screams "nuclear meltdown." 'Tis the season to be tacky. For years, my tree has had a theme. I've decorated in pink and silver, gingerbread, snowmen and many other things. I always thought mismatched lights and ornaments looked messy. Now, I just let my kids cut loose with tree decorating duty. Rest assured it is covered with every ornament from every box. There are many branches that have several ornaments hanging from them. It's leaning a little and questionable in places. But, kids don't stay young for long.

How about that snow and ice? I know I enjoyed it. The Taylor Taxi did well on the road but felt compelled to get a side view of the driveway on the trip down. I could've done without the sideways deal. I did not dig that at all. I must admit I am not near the pansy I was years ago.

We went to Ethan's first big tournament this past weekend. He didn't place, but did very well. It takes a lot of guts to be in front of so many people. He was in a different bracket than usual, so he had a lot tougher opponents. One of them did one armed push-ups prior to the tourney. I, personally, was ready to bail at that point. But, Ethan hung with it and kept his head up. He is a trooper.

I would also like to congratulate all the Junior Wrestlers for just competing and giving it their best. That's always something to be proud of. I also want to thank the coaches for putting up with me. I am the biggest pain in the butt mom around, but they have been most patient. Thanks guys! I would also like to give a heads up to the wrestlers (and wrestler moms) that helped out at the tourney. It's a lot of work to put on those tourneys, so we thank them for their efforts.

Our Christmas program will be at the Grange on Sunday, December the 16th. We look forward to seeing everyone there. I don't know how the play will work out, as we really haven't had the opportunity to work on it. Somehow, I don't think it will get rave reviews as I had hoped. If the entertainment stinks, at least the food will be out of this world. I believe the "mysterious man in red" will be making an appearance. Hope you are on the Nice List! I think which list I am on is still up for debate.

The Ritchie County Junior Wrestlers will travel to Mineral Wells on Friday night and to St. Marys on Saturday for tourneys. Hopefully, the outcome will be better for us. But, the experience is always worth the trip.

Blessings to you and yours.
