WOMAN SHOOTS SELF LOOKING UNDER BED - A Charleston woman was accidentally shot in the chest while retrieving a pistol from underneath her bed.

The shot went through the chest and lung of Sandra McClanahan, 57, who is in ICU in Charleston Area medical Center.

"It appears to be self-inflicted," said Detective R. Eggleton. "It was an accident... that's what the victim is saying."

Officers said McClanahan's husband was in the living room when the shooting occurred and he called 911.

Charleston police checked for gun residue on his face and hands, but did not take him in for questioning.
