Dorothy E. Summerfield, 77 - Spencer

Dorothy E. Summerfield, 77, of Spencer, died Sunday, December 2, 2007, at her home. She was born March 14, 1930, near Walton, a daughter of the late Amos "Bo" and Martha Ann Tolley Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Luster Ashby and Earl Lee Humphreys; daughter, Barbara Ellen Cox; granddaughter, Jessica Louise Cox; sister, Irene Summers; brothers, Walter, Clarence "Jake", E. John and Alvin Moore. Dorothy was a homemaker and mother. She had worked at McDonald's and Dairy Queen in Spencer. She attended the Spencer Baptist Temple and was a life long resident of Roane County. Survivors include her husband, Benjamin Summerfield of Spencer; children, Dennis Jerry Ashby of Comfort, Eugene Lester Ashby of Spencer, Eleanor Pearl Smith of Tallmadge, OH, Keith Roy Ashby of Spencer, Anna Mae Perolis of Tallmadge, OH, Lee Edward Ashby of Nichols County and Carl Douglas Ashby of Gandeeville; sisters, Audra Deal of Poca and Shirley Marks of Walton; 16 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer. Burial will be in the Gandeeville Cemetery, Gandeeville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
