MOLESSA IMPROVING FOLLOWING TREE STAND FALL

(12/03/2007)
Former Calhouner Andy Molessa, 61, of Wood County, is improving after a fall from a tree stand while deer hunting last Monday.

While Molessa did suffer from broken vertebrae in the neck, family members have said he is not paralyzed.

He has been placed in a step-down unit and is expected to start therapy to aid his recovery.

Molessa was taken to Columbus Ohio where he underwent several procedures, including surgery for a left broken shoulder.

Molessa, a longtime Calhoun resident and former Board of Education member, graduated from Calhoun High, where be played football, and worked at DuPont until his retirement.

He has been married to the former Joanne Kelley of Calhoun. They have two children, Todd of Pullman and Andrea Kisner of Beckley.

Molessa grew up on Beech with the late John and Fannie Ellison.
