RT. 47 AUTO VICTIM LEAVES TRAIL OF BLOOD

(12/03/2007)
A Georgia resident received serious injuries in a car accident at the Ritchie-Wirt line on Rt. 47 early Sunday morning.

Sources at the scene said the man's head went into the windshield, but he somehow managed to leave the scene. The accident was discovered by a truck driver about 3:30 a.m.

The Smithville Volunteer Fire Department responded with Ritchie County emergency services.

Sources indicated a trail of blood from the car indicated the man had lacerations, apparently walking a distance from the crash.

The victim was later found about eight miles away on Rt. 53 and was taken to Camden-Clark Hospital in Parkersburg by EMS, where he was reportedly being treated for fractures and multiple injuries.
