Waitman "Bill" Godfrey, 95 - Grantsville

Waitman "Bill" Godfrey, 95, of Grantsville, West Virginia, passed away November 21, 2007 at Veteran's Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV.

He was born March 13, 1912 at Pine Creek, Calhoun County, a son of the late Fay and Effie Starkey Godfrey.

He was an Army Veteran serving in WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a mechanic and farmer.

Surviving are one son, William "Bill" Godfrey of Parkersburg; seven daughters, Jean Youngeberg of Wakeman, Ohio, Nina McCartney of East Liverpool, Ohio, Luella Moore of Stallings, NC, Sharon Smith, Rose Croft, Frances Adwell and Tiffany Goff all of Grantsville; one sister, Vera Conrad of Spencer; one brother, Robert Godfrey of Vienna, WV; 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Brooks Godfrey and his second wife, Hazel Parsons Godfrey; 2 sisters, 4 brothers, and 1 grandchild.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, November 25 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Grantsville.

Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services Sunday.
