Orpha Cottrell, 88, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Sunday, November 11, 2007, in Miletree Center, Spencer. She was born September 18, 1919, in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Ernest and Martha West Brannon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Ray Cottrell; brother and sister-in-law, Howard V. and Alice Moore Brannon; sisters and brothers-in-law, Letha and Rosco Simons, Mary Ann and William Rouse, and June Miller. Orpha was a homemaker and a Christian. Survivors include a son, Kenneth L. Cottrell of Spencer; sister and brother-in-law, Ernestine and Kenneth Keaton of Orma; brother-in-law, Okey Miller of Newton; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, November 14 at 10:00 a.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Leon B. Strickland officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service.
