Grantsville and Smithville firemen with
Calhoun EMS extract Big Springs man from crash

Verlin Millican of Big Springs was injured about 9 a.m. today when he lost control of his vehicle at the intersection of Leading Creek and Rt. 16 near Big Springs.

The well-known fiddle player was taken to Camden-Clark Hospital in Parkersburg after the Grantsville and Smithville Fire Departments and Calhoun EMS extracted him from his vehicle.

Millican's car plunged over an embankment in a rain-slick turn, trapping him in his car.

Sources at the scene indicated Millican was not critically injured.
