GOV. MANCHIN RECOGNIZES CALHOUN'S BRIANA BLANKENSHIP

Briana Blankenship has received a Certificate of Recognition from Governor Joe Manchin, recognizing her upcoming participation in the 2007 Macy's Great American Marching Band.

The Governor recalled his experience of watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade live, saying it really was a fabulous event.

Governor Manchin congratulated Briana, saying he was proud of her, and looked forward to watching the band perform on NBC on Thanksgiving Day.

Briana is the daughter of Rick and Terry Blankenship of Grantsville and is a senior at Calhoun High School.

She is a seven year member of the marching and concert band and a six year trumpet section leader. She has participated in the Regional Solo and Ensemble Festival three times and received a "Superior" rating each time.

Through that competition she earned a position as a soloist in the 2006 WV MENC Honors Recital.

2007 recipient of the Kappa-Kappa Psi Omicron F. Lee Bowling Musical Excellence Award from West Virginia University
2007 recipient of the Semper Fidelis Award from the US Marines
2007 Jazz-MU-Tazz at Marshall University participant
2007 member of the Macy's Great American Marching Band
