| Velma S. Drake, 92, of Vienna, died Oct. 2, 2001, at Camden-Clark Memorial
Hospital of Parkersburg.
She was born in Beech, W.Va., daughter of the late Leonard and Flora
Hackney Starcher. She attended Grace Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Paul Drake and his wife, Waneta of Vienna, and
Charles Drake and his wife, Carol of Princeton, W.Va.; two grandsons, James
Drake and his wife, Miranda of Asheville, N.C., and David Drake and his wife,
Wendy of Pittsburgh, Pa.; four great-grandchildren, Kyla, Katelyn, C.J. and
Connor; two sisters, Lessie Larch of Hometown, W.Va., and Bertie Beckett of
Hurricane, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert
Drake in 1985; five brothers; and two sisters.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home of Grand
Central Avenue in Vienna, with Pastor Todd Hill officiating. Burial will be in the
Clover Cemetery of Roane County. Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. today and from
10-11 a.m. Thursday.
