BLACK GOLD HITS $93 A BARREL - "Old Jed's A Millionaire"

(10/30/2007)
Black gold is going up.

"Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named Jed,
Poor mountaineer barely kept his family fed.
Then one day he was shootin' for some food,
And up through the ground come a bubbling crude,
(Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea)."

"Well the first thing you know old Jed's a millionaire ..."

Black gold went to $93 a barrel yesterday.

If you didn't get to fill up, you'll probably be paying more than $3 for a gallon of regular unleaded, with some outlets expected to be charging $3.40 a gallon after the wholesale increase.

For the several hundred working people who drive out of Calhoun every day to their job, tighten your belt, lay-off food, clothing and shelter.

You'll make it through.

Most out-of-county workers are driving 100 to 180 miles a day.
