FRAMETOWN MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO SEXUAL ASSAULT

(10/23/2007)
A Braxton County man is facing up to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting his stepdaughter for 11 years.

Forty-nine year-old Jackie Butler of Frametown pleaded guilty today to counts of 3rd degree sexual assault.

State Police first investigated Butler in 1995 when the then 8-year-old girl reported being sexually assaulted repeatedly by her stepfather.

The case got complicated when the girl recanted her allegations.

In 2006, the girl then 18, talked with State Police, again confirming her original allegations.

Butler had been charged with 350 counts of sexual assault, but agreed to a plea bargain with Braxton County prosecutors.

He faces 1-5 years in prison on each count.

He will be sentenced January 14th.
