GRANTSVILLE MAN RELEASED FOLLOWING SHOOTING AND DRUG CHARGES

(10/19/2007)
A Grantsville man is facing charges after he allegedly fired a BB gun at a newspaper carrier, after which police discovered he had 117 grams of marijuana in his residence.

Christopher Todd Smith has been released on a $12,500 surety bond.

Smith has been charged by Grantsville Police Chief Charles Stephens with two counts of assault, two counts of unlawful shooting in a street, one count of destruction of property and one count of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and manufacture.

After the marijuiana was discovered in Smith's residence while police executed a search warrant, Chief Stephens said following the issuance of Smith's Miranda Rights, he claimed the marjuiana was not his, and that someone must have broke into his house and "left that stuff."
