JACKSON COUNTY HAS 100 JOB LOSS - Unemployment Rate Bright For WV

(10/17/2007)
Jackson County's economy will take a hit with the loss of 100 manufacturing jobs.

Ravenswood Specialty Services recently lost a contract with DuPont and the company laid off 40 workers last Friday.

The rest of the employees will terminate in the weeks ahead.

Meanwhile, the work picture in West Virginia is "bright."

Workforce West Virginia says the state's unemployment rate dropped to its lowest recorded level in September.

The agency reported Monday that the rate dropped seven-tenths of a percent to 4.0 percent in September.

That means the number of unemployed residents dropped by 5,700.

The national rate was 4.7 percent.
