PROBLEMS SURFACE FOR WIRT MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

(10/12/2007)
The principal of Wirt Middle School in Elizabeth has reportedly been placed on a leave of absence or suspended from his job.

Wirt County superintendent of schools Dan Metz, declined to acknowledge JD Hoover's status with the school system, although sources at the school indicated Hoover was not at work.

Reports given to the Herald from the community regarding problems related to the principal could not be verified.

Hoover, a former guidance counselor with Calhoun Schools, is a resident of Vienna.

Superintendent Metz declined to release public information, saying it is "a personnel matter."

Metz would not confirm Hoover has been given a leave of absence.

Jim Rader, president of the Wirt Board of Education, would not confirm Hoover's status, referring the issue to the superintendent.
