SCHOOL BOARD HEARS REPORTS, TAKES PERSONNEL ACTION

The Calhoun Board of Education met Monday evening.

Steve Whited gave a report on the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center, saying the Gilmer water project to the school was about completed and new sewing classes would be started at the center.

Board member Joy Starcher gave a report from a recent RESA meeting.

Donnie Pitts reported on the progress of the county's Safety Plan, which will first focus on locking and access systems, in addition to signage, lighting and access badges. The plan is being prepared for the state.

Pitts continued to express appreciation to the school board for being able to hire a designated maintenance person to complete repair work at county schools.
