Charles W. "Bill" McCray, 82 - Parkersburg

Charles W. "Bill" McCray, 82, of Parkersburg died Oct. 1, 2007, at Ohio Valley Health Care.

He was born at Brohard, Calhoun County, a son of the late Charles H. McCray and Ethel G. McIntyre McCray Goodnight.

Bill retired from Corning Glass after 48.5 years service. He was a member of South Parkersburg Baptist Church. He was a U. S. Army combat veteran of World War II where he served in the Philippine Islands. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Bill was a member of the American Legion Post 15 and a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge No. 3.

Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Gertrude (Stump) McCray; sister, Eleanor Gifford and her husband, Arthur, of Parkersburg; brother, Johnnie Goodnight and his wife, Mickey, of Brohard; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Arnold McCray.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastors Joe Busch and Frank Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today.
