Dette Martha Hite, 96 - Spencer

Dette Martha Hite, 96, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Thursday, September 20, 2007, in Roane General Hospital, Spencer.

She was born September 21, 1910, in Jonesboro, TN, a daughter of the late Charles and Geneva Hamilton Sprinkles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Hite in 1983; one son, Charles Hite; one grandson, Homer Hefner, Jr.; one brother, Charles Sprinkles; one sister, Grace Barker.

Dette was a retired employee of the Spencer State Hospital and a former employee of the Weston State Hospital. She was a member of the Roane General Hospital Auxiliary and a Baptist.

Survivors include one son, Jakie Hite of Spencer; one daughter, Evelyn Hefner of Jane Lew; one sister, Lexie Nelson of Johnson City, TN; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A funeral service will be conducted Monday, September 24 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. David Riddle officiating. Burial will be in the Johns Cemetery, Stouts Mills.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
