Molasses Festival royalty received recognition last night with the crowning of King Jonathan Collins (First Grade) and Queen Shaya Arnold (Kindergarten) to reign over the 34th annual event.

Arnoldsburg Principal Sheri Graham introduced the candidates after having a moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives on September 11. Jennifer Wagoner sang "God Bless the U.S.A."

Jonathan Collins is the son of Andrew and Norma Collins of Arnoldsburg. Shaya Arnold is the daughter of Phillip Arnold of Arnoldsburg and Jennifer Miller of Rosedale.

Each year the Arnoldsburg Elementary School selects students from homerooms to be representatives in the festival. Votes are "by the penny," with this years event raising $2,844.08. The money is used by the Arnoldsburg PTO to fund special projects and to buy supplies and equipment.
