The Calhoun Jr. Varsity Football team journeyed to Clay County on Monday, September 17th to take on the Clay Jr. Varsity Panthers.

The game was a defensive struggle with the only score of the evening coming as a result of a Red Devil turnover.

Calhoun's first possession ended in disaster as the Red Devils were unable to move the ball and lined up to punt.

The ball sailed over the head of Ben Laughlin the punter, and was covered by Clay at the Calhoun 5-yard line.

The Red Devil defense stiffened and took over the ball at its own 1-yard line on downs.

Again the Red Devils were unable to move the ball and were forced to punt.

This time the ball did not get to punter Laughlin who had to scoop it up and run to his own 15-yard line.

Calhoun once again held the Panthers, but on a 4th down from the Red Devil 9-yard line the Panthers scored on a run over the left side.

The two-point conversion attempt failed and the score stood at 6-0 in favor of Clay.

That would prove to be the only score of the evening for either team.

The teams then hooked up in a defensive struggle the remainder of the game.

The offensive highlight of the evening for Calhoun was a 50-yard run by Nick Stevens in the 2nd Quarter, but the Red Devils would give up the football on downs.

The Red Devils will host the Williamstown JV's at Red Devil Stadium on Monday, September 24th at 6:00 p.m.
