| Ezra Eugene "Gene" Koon, 73, of Spencer, died Tuesday, September 11, 2007, in Miletree Center, Spencer.
He was born April 3, 1934, in Calhoun County, a son of the late Ezra and Opal Carpenter Koon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Koon.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Moore and Cathy Nutter, both of Spencer, and Joyce Matics of Luray, VA; four sons, Jimmy Koon and Michael Koon, both of Spencer, Anthony Koon and Brian Koon, both of Stanley, VA; two step-sons, Kevin Williams of VA and Jamie Williams of Hampton, VA; twenty grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; a sister, Katie Waggoner of New Franklin, OH; and a brother, Charlie Coon of Norton, OH.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday, September 14 at noon in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Frank Vannoy officiating. Burial will be in the Carpenter Cemetery, Hur, Calhoun County.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
