RITCHIE MAN GETTING TESTED BEFORE MURDER TRIAL

(08/30/2007)
A Ritchie County man accused of murdering his wife is undergoing psychological tests to see if he is competent to stand trial.

William Echard (left) was arrested in August after he shot and killed his wife, Gina, who was a real estate agent in Parkersburg.

He then shot himself.

Echard has been in the hospital twice since he was taken into police custody.

He appeared in court for a bond hearing, but no bond was set, because the defense attorney is asking for competency tests.

The results of those tests should be back in time for a pre-trial hearing on September 14th.
