Shirley June Richards Ash, 64 - Parkersburg

Shirley June Richards Ash, 64, of Parkersburg, left this world's pain and suffering on Aug. 9, 2007, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 17, 1943, in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Shirley and Arizona Richards Layfield.

Shirley was a licensed practical nurse, having worked at various hospitals and nursing homes. She was a member of Pine Twist Baptist Church in Elizabeth.

She is survived by her former husband, Dean Ash of Parkersburg; a son, Gary Dean Ash Jr.; grandson, Tyler Ash of Elizabeth; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry and Alida Layfield, Jim and Tammy Layfield, Jack and Carol Layfield and Keith and Bonita Layfield, all of Cairo; one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Randy Stout of Petroleum; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Layfield; and two sisters, Gloria Jean Richards and Ellen Sue Layfield.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Raiguel Funeral Home, Cairo, with the Rev. Charlene Spaur officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park Cemetery, Cairo. Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Sunday and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
