BUCHANAN INJURED AFTER HIT FROM CONCRETE TRUCK - Condition Described As Serious

(09/21/2001)
A Calhoun woman was seriously injured yesterday when a concrete mixing truck crashed into her vehicle in Wirt County on Route 5 near the Munday Road access. Linda Buchanan, wife of Gary Buchanan, was taken to a Parkersburg hospital after HealthNet could not land at the wreck scene because of fog. The truck, which was traveling west on Route 5, apparently went out of control in a turn, clipping a tree. Reports said chains on a rack broke lose, causing the vehicle to change directions.

The Wirt County Fire Department responded about 10 a.m. and worked for 45 minutes extracting the woman. The Buchanan's live on Bear Fork off Little Creek, not far from Creston. She is an employee of Public Debt in Parkersburg.

The concrete truck belonged to Formation Concrete Company of Zanesville, Ohio and was returning from a well job on Norman Ridge.
