The Little Kanawha Area Community Foundation (LKACF) has met the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation challenge grant. To successfully complete this challenge grant, LKACF had to raise $10,000 for its unrestricted grantmaking fund, the LK Area Grantmaking Fund. Now, the LKACF and the communities in Calhoun and Wirt Counties will be awarded for completing this challenge grant by receiving $5,000 in matching funds that can be spent out immediately as grants.

"We are very excited to have completed the second cycle of the Babcock Challenge, and very grateful to the community," said Jim Bennett, LKACF Board Chair. "Because of the community's generosity, we will now be able to give at least $5,000 back to the community in the form of grants this fall. It is a very exciting time for LKACF and the community."

This was the second cycle of the Babcock challenge for LKACF. The first cycle was completed in March of 2006, and $5,000 was awarded in grants back to the community in the fall of 2006. LKACF will hold another grants cycle this fall for nonprofits that serve Calhoun and Wirt Counties. The postmark deadline for this grants cycle is September 1st, and the guidelines and application can be found at http://www.pacfwv.com.

LKACF was established in 2004 as an affiliate of the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation (PACF), and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that seeks to build permanent funds that supports charitable activities in Calhoun and Wirt Counties forever! LKACF has a 15-member Advisory Board that works to build visibility and funds for LKACF.
