Clyde B. Barnes, Vienna

Clyde B. Barnes of Vienna died Aug. 1, 2007. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Edgar and Elma Barr Barnes. Clyde was a graduate of West Virginia Tech and a U.S. Army veteran with the 101st Airborne Division during World War II. He retired from Wood County Schools, where he had been a teacher for 36 years. Surviving are his son, Larry Barnes; four grandchildren, Michelle, Cassie, Allan and Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Halle; and one brother, Ralph Barnes of Parkersburg. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Lillian Mae Hayhurst Barnes; one sister, Geraldine Barnes; and two brothers, Thorl Barnes and William Barnes. As requested by the deceased, there will be no visitation or services.
