RITCHIE WOMAN DEAD - Shooter In Fair Condition

Gina M. Echard, 42, of St. Marys is dead following a domestic dispute with her husband late Wednesday night in Ritchie County. Echard was shot in a home on Melin Ridge Road by her husband, William L. Echard Jr., 42. The Ritchie County Sheriff's Department said the Echards became involved in an argument and William Echard got a handgun and shot his wife, killing her. Following the shooting, Echard went outside the house and shot himself. He is listed in fair condition at St. Joseph's Hospital, under guard by authorities. The Sheriff's Department said they did not know what started the verbal argument. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident. Gina Echard was a realtor with Prudential Preferred Homes in Parkersburg and was the secretary of the Parkersburg Area Association of Realtors.
