Dolly L. Jarvis, 88 - Grantsville

Dolly L. Jarvis, 88, of Grantsville, West Virginia, passed away July 31, 2007, at Minnie Hamilton Health Services in Grantsville after a short illness.

She was born on Sept. 27, 1918, at Wallback, WV, a daughter of the late Wyatt and Dorcas Morris Gray.

Dolly was a homemaker living at Chloe, WV, and Grantsville after having worked at the Goodyear Rubber Plant in Akron, Ohio, during World War II.

She is survived by sons, Steve Jarvis and wife, Moana, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Roger Jarvis and wife, Linda, of Grantsville; grandchildren, Kelly Jarvis of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lindsay Jarvis of Honolulu, Hawaii, Amanda Mitchell of Wildwood, N.J., and Emily Snyder of Grantsville; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Cayden Parsons of Grantsville; and a sister, Merle Summers of Wallback.

In addition to her parents, Dolly was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Roy Brooks Jarvis. Her siblings who preceded her in death were brothers, Broaddus, Audra, Dorman, Gerald, Wade, Herby, Burl, Doyle and Shirley, and sisters, Mabel Moore, Maysel Moore and Claris Shamblin.

During the past year, Dolly had been a resident of Aging With Grace, an assisted-living facility, and Minnie Hamilton Health Services Long Term Care Unit, both of Grantsville. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Wallback and attended the White Oak Baptist Church at Chloe for many years.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville with the Rev. John Vannoy officiating. Burial will follow at the Prudence Chapel Cemetery, Minnora, WV.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
