CRIME WAVE AND VANDALISM STRIKES CLAY

(07/14/2007)
WSAZ-TV and the Clay Communicator are reporting vandalism and a crime-spree in Clay with a dozen businesses damaged and entered for quick selling items.

Clay's sewage plant was entered and vandalized.

In the last couple weeks, downtown businesses have been the target.

So far, Elk Power Co was entered, Clay Lumber robbed of $600 worth of knives, the Dollar Store and the laundromat, among others.

Side windows were smashed out of a parked car.

"It appears we have two groups. One is busting in places and swiping resalable items for quick pocket money. The other appears to be a younger crowd out to tear things up and run," said the Communicator.
