IT'S MEMORY TIME - Alumni and friends
THERE WERE LOTS OF LAUGHS - Former Calhoun educators By Bob Weaver About 350 former alumni and guests attended the 20th annual Alumni Reunion at Calhoun Middle-High School Saturday. Master of ceremonies Roger Propst announced special presentations for two former school athletes whose accomplishments should have been recognized earlier and their photos placed on the school's Wall of Fame.

GETTING THEIR DUE - Red Devil All-State players David
Plaques were given to football All-Staters David Hathaway from the class of 1959 and Roger Maze from the class of 1957. Maze's award was accepted by Dick Barnes. Hathaway, who has been described as one the county's most outstanding athletes, expressed thanks to his family and coaches, including Coach Wayne Underwood. Propst said "Their accomplishments were during a time when competition was fierce."

SPECIAL AWARD - Cecil "Boozy" Wolverton has A special award was given to long-time athletic booster Cecil D. "Boozy" Wolverton, class of 1956. Propst said "This man has always been the ultimate fan and supporter of Calhoun athletic programs, going far beyond with efforts to raise funds for programs." "He has always jumped in when there is a need, including the current football uniform drive," Propst said, raising thousands of dollars over the years. Wolverton, who is blind, follows the teams around the region, attending games. The Wood County resident simply said "Thanks," and asked for support for the football teams uniform fund.

![]() THE CLASS OF 1937 - Dora Shaffer Starcher Tara Thomas, class of 2007, has received the Alumni Scholarship Award. Larry Cottrell, representing the 45th anniversary class of 1962, recognized memorable teachers and school employees, including janitors Holly Kerby and Shirley Hosey for being role models and caring about students. Beverly Starcher Prince, representing the class of 1957, the 50th anniversary class, shared memories with a considerable number of her classmates who were attending. The class of '57 participated later in a special get-together at Grantsville's senior center.
