FOOD TAX DROPS A PENNY, POP TAX GOES UP

WV legislation effective July 1st will expand eligibility rules so young adults can stay on their parents' health policies up to age 25.

The cutoff age has been around age 19.

The measure is meant to fill one of several gaps in health coverage.

The new law could affect about 20,000 young adults.

Shoppers will start paying four cents on the dollar in taxes on groceries, down from five cents per dollar.

But the sales tax on soda will go up a penny, to six cents per dollar.
