Walkers take to the track for survivor's walk

Vehicle "race" was one of many events

It was a celebration of Hope, the annual Relay for Life event Saturday evening at Wayne Underwood Field, with dozens of cancer survivors participating in the survivor's walk and the lighting of luminaries in memory of hundreds of Calhoun residents who succumbed to the disease.

After having the event inside for the past few years because of weather, Barb McKown said "It was delightful to have it outside, again."

Saturday's event kicked-off at 6 p.m., lasting until 1 a.m. Sunday.

Relay for Life, besides being a fundraiser for the battle against cancer, was an opportunity to celebrate life with friends and family from across Calhoun and surrounding counties.

The evening was filled with fun events, music, lots of walking and of course, special memories.
