Brady Donas "Donnie" Hickel III, 57, of Pineville, N.C., died June 19, 2007, at Presbyterian Hospital in North Carolina.

He was born Aug. 3, 1949, in Given, W.Va., a son of the late Brady D. Hickel Jr. and Juanita Carmichael Hickel Bruestle.

He was a teacher, testing coordinator and coach at Waddell High School and also taught and coached at Carmel Junior High School and at South Mecklenburg in North Carolina.

He was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Belmont, N.C. In West Virginia, he was a Spencer High School graduate and graduated from Glenville State College. He was formerly a teacher and coach in Cabell County, W.Va., and was also a former member of Gilboa Baptist Church in Reedy, W.Va.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Kelly Hickel; two daughters, Kelly (Phil) Jackson of Cornelius, N.C., and Amy (James) Latham of Belmont; one son, Brady D. "Brad" (Lawanna) Hickel IV of Rock Hill, S.C.; one sister, Juanita "Nita Mae" Hickel of Vienna; and four brothers and their wives, Gary (Barb) Schiefer of Levada, Ohio, John (Amy) Hickel of Valparaiso, Ind., David (Trish) Hickel of Orma, W.Va., and Bill (Connie) Hickel of Pt. Pleasant, W.Va. Also surviving Donnie are six grandchildren, Kyler, Jordan, Ian, Joshua, Lindsay and Erin; his mother-in-law, Ferne Matics Kelly; and a sister-in-law, Beth Jones.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Betty Lou Hickel; father-in-law, Flavy Kelly Jr.; and his stepfather, Hugh Bruestle.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Joe Lawing officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Given, W.Va. Visiting hours are from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
