GENTLEMEN BERNARD 1905-2001 - A 20th Century Man

Bernard McDonald returns to the earth, near the farm he deeply loved

96-year-old Bernard McDonald was laid to rest yesterday in Mt. Zion Cemetery, his life stretching across most of the 20th Century. He lived through the declarations and peace treaties of World War I and II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Gulf War - dying one day before the assault on American soil. Connected to people and history, one must wonder what he would have thought. Good-bye, to kindly and gentlemanly Bernard.

Arnoldsburg resident Rue Powell, 92
drove over to the funeral to pay his respects
