Laymon Junior Godfrey, 82 - Grantsville

Laymon Junior Godfrey, 82, of Bramblewood Village, Grantsville, West Virginia, passed away June 17, 2007 at Braxton Health Care Center at Flatwoods.

Born in Calhoun County, he was a son of the late Laymon and Mary Smith Godfrey. He was a carpenter and was a US Army Veteran of WWII serving in Rhineland and Central Europe. He earned the EAME Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal, was a sharpshooter and a cannoneer and received the Army Occupation Medal and WWII Victory Medal.

Surviving is one brother, Donald Godfrey of Grantsville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 20 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Grantsville with Military Graveside Rites.

Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services.
