SAND RIDGE MAN DISAPPEARS - A Search Is On

(09/12/2001)
A Sand Ridge man has been missing in Durham, North Carolina since 1 a.m. Monday morning, after becoming separated from his long-time girlfriend. Shirley C. Rush, 22, had traveled to Reedsville, North Carolina last Friday to visit with friends, accompanied by Amy Barr, 20, daughter of Mark Barr of Calhoun County.

Rush and Barr were returning to Calhoun when they became separated in the urban area. Ms. Barr said she saw his 2000 white Ford Ranger (WV 8CV395) drive away, looking for a place to park. She became frightened when he did not return and went to an all-night service station to seek help.

"It has been two days and we have heard nothing from him," according to his mother, Ora Rush of Sand Ridge. Reports have been filed with police agencies in North Carolina, and the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department.

Rush, who is an employee of Creston Well Service, has not reported to work. "He has had a problem with amnesia since a four-wheeler accident last year," according to his mother.

Rush is 5' 8", weighs 145 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair.
