CALHOUN SCHOOLS GET $18,000 TECHNOLOGY GRANT

Calhoun Schools will be one of nine West Virginia counties that will share more than $898,000 in federal funding to provide Internet access to students.

Calhoun will be receiving $18,000.

The funding comes from the federal ERate program, which Sen. Jay Rockefeller co-authored a decade ago.

Wayne County received the largest amount - $270,000.

Mingo received $195,000, Boone $135,00 and Lincoln $101,000.

Another $86,000 went to Institutional Education Programs in Charleston, while the New Life Christian Academy in Summersville received nearly $2,500.

Cabell County received $18,000.
