... after ATV crashed over steep hillside on Barnes Run

Two Spencer women received injuries when their four-wheeler went out-of-control on Barnes Run yesterday, crashing over a steep hillside.

Robin Montgomery, 15, was flown by HealthNet from Arnoldsburg following the 2:16 p.m. accident. The extent of her injuries were undisclosed, but sources indicated she was not critically injured.

Her mother, Dora Montgomery, 41, was taken by Calhoun EMS to Roane General Hospital for treatment.

The four-wheeler plunged from the highway, through thick brush, coming to rest in a creek bottom near the Barne's Run Church and the West Fork.

The Montgomerys were attending an outing along the West Fork with family members.

The Arnoldsburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to the accident with Deputy Sheriff Justin Metheney.

Later, at 4:10 p.m. the Arnoldsburg VFD responded to a transformer fire just south of the "Y" along Rt. 16.
