Denver R. Starcher, 83 - Sistersville

Denver R. Starcher, 83, of Hickman Road, Sistersville, W.Va., died May 23, 2007, at Genesis Health and Rehabilitation in McConnelsville, Ohio.

He was born Jan. 20, 1924, in Millstone, W.Va., a son of the late Allen Brown Starcher and Icie May DeVol.

He was former owner of D.R. Starcher and Sons Furniture Store in New Martinsville, a World War II Navy veteran, member of the First Baptist Church of Sistersville, VFW Post 6327 of Sistersville, Middlebourne Lodge 34 AF&AM and Nemesis Shrine Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn L. "Sally" Poole Starcher; sons, David Starcher and Denver (Debbie) Starcher, both of Sistersville; daughter, Loretta Ann (Larry) Hinkle of Akron, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Terry Starcher of Sistersville; grandchildren, Vikki, Mendy, Scott, Amy, Sarah, Stefanie, Susie, Larance and Lendon; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Starcher of Charlotte, N.C.; and sisters, Nina Boatwright of Norton, Ohio, and Justine Miller of Spencer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Victor C. Starcher in 2001; brothers, Melvin, Delbert, Aldine, Victor, Vere and Ray Starcher; and sisters, Opal Nitz, Beulah Burden and Pauline Starcher.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville, with the Rev. William Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Sistersville. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
