It was an evening of academic honors - Calhoun High School's 8th Annual High Honor Graduate Banquet, held Monday at the school.

Eight students with a cumulative 3.6 or higher grade point average were recognized for their academic achievement.

Principal Karen Kirby said "Tonight we honor the best of the best."

Glenville State College president Dr. Peter Barr spoke to the group about their accomplishments, goals for success and responsibility.

Members of the Calhoun Board of Education attended the event.

The high honor students with family members attended the banquet, sponsored by Calhoun Banks and the Grantsville Lions Club

The eight students selected teachers they recognize who have helped them during their years at Calhoun High.

Mrs. Kirby, Dr. Barr and superintendent Ron Blankenship presented each Honor Graduate with a medallion, honor cord and certificate signed by Governor Manchin.

Special guests were, foreign exchange students Lisa Najde and Juan Amador.
