Eunice Christine Richards, 79 - Harrisville

Eunice Christine Richards, 79, of Harrisville died May 8, 2007, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.

She was born June 8, 1927, in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late David M. and India Sims Rollins.

Christine worked at Rubber Crafters from 1960-1966 and helped assemble the space suit for the first man in space. She also worked as a seamstress for Economy Industries in Harrisville for 26 years. In her later years, she was a caretaker for the elderly.

She was a past noble grand and member of Hope Rebekah Lodge 30, Harrisville, and a member of Grantsville Post 5959 VFW Women's Auxiliary.

She is survived by three sons, David A. Richards and wife, Sherry, of Concord, N.C., Nile Richards of Harrisville and Lonnie R. Richards and wife, Betty, of Harrisville; four daughters, Barbara Jo Wilson and husband, Leonard, of Big Bend, W.Va., Susie Butcher and husband, Richard, of Weston, W.Va., Sheila Mason and husband, Donald, of Cairo and Lila Grinter and husband, R.B., of Parkersburg; foster daughter, Kathy Greathouse of Parkersburg; 26 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Richards was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Richards; and half-brother, Harold Rollins. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Pastor Ron Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrisville IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
