FORMER GRANTSVILLE CHIEF GORDON INDICTED - Facing Nine Counts

(05/08/2007)
Former Grantsville Police Chief Ron Gordon was indicted today by a Calhoun Grand Jury on nine counts.

Gordon was suspended from his duties in February, 2006 by Grantsville Mayor Wilbert Kerby, indicating he was under investigation.

Gordon was also suspended as Calhoun's Home Confinement Officer by Sheriff Carl Ballengee.

Since then Gordon has been under investigation by the State Police and has been held on home confinement since last summer.

He has been charged with:

- Four counts of sexual abuse in the first degree

- Two counts of sexual assault in the second degree

- One count of sexual abuse in the second degree

- One count of attempt to commit sexual assault in the second degree

- One count of nighttime burglary

An indictment is not an indication of guilt; rather, it means a grand jury has found sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.
